My Step

In a mountain city of the future a robot travel agent named Larry is in his storefront office. He is unsuccessfully trying to sell an adventure get-away vacation to a nice looking couple while his human boss looks on. The potential customers are concerned with this vacation plan's lack of conveniences while the robot tries to explain the thrills of “roughing it”.  The couple is unconvinced and leaves.
The frustrated travel agent goes for walk down the street, travel brochure in hand, pausing at the sight of cloaked street musician playing the flute. While walking past an ally a hand reaches out grabbing the brochure from Gary. He follows to confront the thief only to be startled at the sight of three ornate tribal beings (Katsina) huddled around the brochure.
One of the Katsina explains to Larry their story. Four of them had lived on the mountain before the city was built. The people of that time would honor them and they would return the favor with things like plentiful rain for corn, but when the city was built they were forgotten and lost their place in the world.
The Katsina asks Larry how much the vacation costs. He tells them and they pool their resources, handing him three shell necklaces. He puzzlingly looks at the shells, then at their eager faces, shrugs and agrees to take their payment. At the travel agency Larry hands the Katsinas their tickets and they leave. Larry’s boss comes out from the back, confronts him about the necklaces and fires the robot when told about the transaction.
Larry goes back to the ally and is staring at the picture on the travel brochure when he looks up to see the cloaked musician he had passed earlier who reveals himself to be the fourth Katsina mentioned in the others story. This Katsina asks the robot the whereabouts of the others. Gary tells him about the island and musical Katsina asks Gary how much the trip costs. Gary starts to inform him that he can’t pay with shell necklaces when the musician reveals his flute case is filled with money. Gary looks down at the money and then up at the musical Katsina. He puts his hand on the musician's shoulder and nods. Larry and the Katsina are now the customers at the travel agency being helped by another robot travel agent who looks like Larry with a mustache.

On the island the three Katsinas are solemnly sitting around the fire when they look up to see Music and Gary. They rise and greet them. The five friends dance around the fire into the night.
